On April 11th, 2018, The Australian Technology Park in Sydney hosted not only the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Jurassic Park, but also the upcoming premiere of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in June, 2018. Now, what does this all have to do with fashion, you may ask?
Well, fashion is always the answer, in our books.
Seven fashion designers created collections all inspired and then designed with the theatrical premiere of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as their inspiration. The designers included Sarah Joseph Couture (Imogen Anthony walked for Sarah, whose intricate bespoke pieces were Jurassic jaw-dropping ), A.BCH, EWOL, Keegan, Leah Da Gloria, Vincent Li and LunarSand. This was the stunning swimwear label that closed the show with a distinct use of jungle prints, punctuated by prehistoric dinosaur skeletons, abstract dinosaur skins and the famous Jurassic World logo.
Along with the fashion the night was packed with insanely life-like dinosaur robots to add to the theme of the whole night. At times, it almost seemed like the dinosaurs were real and were about to bite our heads off! It truly felt like we were in the jungle, with foliage surrounding us and the atmosphere was just fabulous.
The packed runway show, the brainchild of Universal Brand Development, also celebrated the 25th anniversary of Jurassic Park and some of the elements of Jurassic World iconography known so well from the big screen, were reimagined brilliantly as designer couture for the runway and the retail racks. The event not only marked Universal Brand Development’s opening statement in Australian fashion, but the first ever film-fashion industry collaboration for the runway seen in Australia. Guests included Imogen Anthony, Kyle Sandilands, Jenni Baird, David Berry, Penny McNamee and Tessa De Josselin.
While there was no beautiful Chris Pratt in sight, this night was still amazing and unforgettable - thank you to all involved, and for letting us enjoy the fun fashion and bubbles! As a small business, it was amazing to be able to experience this, and you never know - it could be inspiration for our next collection…
